    Our faith community nurses work with members of the Health & Wellness team, the H&W advisory board, and FaithWestwood ministry directors to assess and respond to the wellness needs of the congregation through education, training, and care of the spirit. 


    Current Initiatives include:

    • Staffing first aid stations for large church events such as Vacation Bible School, FaithWorks Pantry Thanksgiving Bag distribution, and the Live Nativity.

  • Tai Chi for balance

    Tai Chi is a slow, gentle, non-strenuous exercise routine that has been proven to improve balance and decrease the risk of falls. Tai Chi is also associated with other health benefits including reducing blood pressure, improving sleep and decreasing stress. 


    Our instructor, Paula Allen, is a certified tai chi instructor who has taught tai chi in a wide variety of settings in the Omaha area for more than 4 years. Paula holds a BA in Occupational Therapy and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.


    Tai Chi for Balance meets Mondays and Thursdays from 11:15 am - 12 pm

    Enter through the west entrance.

    GriefShare is a national Christian ministry for those grieving the death – recent or in the past – of someone close. 


    Thousands of GriefShare support groups meet all over the world and find caring, supportive people ready to help them navigate the difficult journey of grief. At FaithWestwood, this 13-week seminar and support group meets periodically during the year.

  • Solutions group for family caregivers

    The Solutions Group is an informational support group designed to help family caregivers manage the challenges of caring for (or being responsible for the care of) an ill or disabled loved one. Special focus on  (but not limited to) the challenges of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease, other forms of dementia, and chronic or acute illnesses related to aging.


                Sponsored by FaithWestwood’s Health and Wellness Ministry, the group meets every other month and is facilitated by Nancy Flaherty, MS, NHA, CDP a licensed social worker, a licensed nursing home administrator, and a certified dementia practitioner. In addition to facilitating the Solutions Group, other services Nancy provides include: 

    • Consultation with family caregivers to develop individual plans and find resources
    • Coordination between caregivers and providers
    • In person or phone consultation regarding placement/living options, especially when unexpected transitions occur.
    • General education, information and referrals
